Most of us plan on replacing our valve cover gasket whenever it must be removed for maintenance on the rocker arm assembly. After being hot and cold so many times it has permanently attached itself to the engine head and valve cover. It is planned to always have a new gasket nearby each time the cover is removed.

Good News! There is a way to prevent this occurrence.

This simple inexpensive procedure will stop the replacement of valve cover gasket in future years.

  • For the last time, remove all the broken gasket pieces from the engine head and valve cover. Remove all oil from the cover on the edges.
  • Coat the valve cover 4 edges with Permatex and secure it in the position where it must always be. Now, it will never come off!
  • Next, apply a very liberal amount of "Chap Stick" (most people have this in their home). Don't be stingy! Use plenty.

Now, the "good deed" is done. When the engine head warms, the gasket will not come off the valve cover AND it will never stick to the head, no matter how many times the cover is removed!
