With the success of the Chevrolet Cameo from 1955 to 1958, General Motors realized that there was a demand for extras on working ½ ton pickups that were usually found on passenger cars. This occurred as Americans had more extra income than ever before about the mid 1950’s.

As this continued, GM introduced ½ and ¾ ton pickups with the most popular extras in one package. From 1967 through 1970 Chevrolet sold these “high end” pickups and labeled them as a CST (Custom Sport Truck).

Our feature truck this month is a 1970 Chevy ½ ton CST. It is proudly owned by Jim Bailey of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. He purchased it in excellent condition about 37 years ago to add to his extensive collection.

Jim is retired! Some people then play extra golf or go on more distant vacations, but this person enjoys the collecting of pre-restored G.M. trucks. These are not “trailer queens”, so all are ready to be driven whenever he has the urge! Of course, he rarely has their history.

Take a look at this beauty! Skilled experts say it has had one re-paint (not bad for 54 years old). Jim bought it with the incorrect wheel covers. Since he loves Rally wheels, he installed a set of four from a 1973 Chevy Pickup.
