I am interested in World War II history. In 2009 I became a member of "Keep Them Rolling", the Dutch Association for the Preservation of Historic Military Vehicles. I own a 1944 Ford GPW and a 1941 Chevrolet AK, with which I attend events and commemorations. The Ford GPW in Canadian version of the 1st Canadian Infantry Division, 88th Regiment RCEME. The 1st Canadian Division liberated the village of Barendrecht on May 7, 1945, it is the village where I live. In February 2020, I bought the Chevrolet AK 1/2 ton 235ci in Florida because I love the model. The truck was in reasonable condition, but I still decided to restore it. In the early spring of 2023, the truck was ready. I turned it into a military version based on the information and photos I got from GM Heritage Center, Sterling Heights, Michigan. I am happy with the result. It is "a former civilian model in battle dress"! The hardest part is to find a license plate that says "US Navy Recruiting Service", this is the WW2 version and is almost impossible to find. The license plate on the truck that says "US Navy Recruiting Command" is post-war. Better some than nothing !

Bought truck cab and box on s10 frame 7 years ago. Was a rat for years, now more of a custom. Parts and pieces cam from all over the country. This was my first paint job. I need to sand down, get the orange peel and dry spots out. It’s got a rebuilt 350,320 hp turbo auto 373rear end disc brakes all around.built it on low budget and it still cost enough. What I couldn’t do I hired out. It’s been a long work in progress. Next is box floor, windshield wiper, radio emergency brake. It’s not a show car at all but it’s fun. And we get a lot of thumbs up.
