All starter ring gears have a diameter slightly less than the size of the 13.060 inch flywheel, of about .020 inches.Heat the gear uniformly to a blue heat of approximately 400 degrees (Avoid red heat or the gear will be destroyed). Allow to cool naturally.In applying this hardened ring gear, it is sometimes necessary to tap it on the flywheel. No concern about this, as the slight out-of-round condition which makes this necessary, disappears as the gear shrinks on the flywheel. NO REFUND for gears that have been overheated or broken.
