1949- 1955 Gas Tank Behind Seat Chevrolet and GMC Pickup And Big Truck & Improvements
This 1949 Thru Early 1955 Gas tank its behind seat with right side fill spout. 18 Gallon capacity. We discovered the fuel inlet at the top of most others is bent incorrectly so the rubber hose does not fit properly. Yes, our tanks are correct and the hose perfectly fits between the tank and where you add fuel. Another quality part from Jim Carter Truck Parts!!! SAFETY FIRST: GM had the right idea! This tank is protected by the original heavy gauge double layer metal cab. Compare this with some people's idea of hanging their gas tank behind the rear axle with very little protection from a rear end hit. REMEMBER: The 1972 Ford Pinto that was rear ended in the Mid 1970's, burst into flames, and the three Pinto passengers were killed? Yes, it came with an unprotected factory installed rear mounted gas tank! Check this on Google! IMPORTANT: If you place the tank behind the rear axle, you have no place for a spare tire! What Now? SHIPS NO CHARGE FREIGHT IN Lower 48 States!
