I bought the truck in the late 80’s. I was a young volunteer fireman at the time and was into old cars. The truck ran great and odometer still shows under 20,000 miles. The truck is rust free and the only thing i did was give it a fresh paint job, tires and oil changes. The truck is always loved at parades and car shows. As I near retirement I want to spend more time up grading some things on the truck.

I purchased my 1948 Chevy 1/2 Ton 3100 truck in 1986 in Maine. I partially restored my truck in 1986 - 1987 while I was stationed at Pease Air Force Base, New Hampshire. My parents were kind enough to store my truck at their home in Maine while I was reassigned to several other Air Force Bases. When I finally retired and purchased a home in Florida in 2007 my folks shipped my truck to Florida. I then started a serious restoration of my truck which took over 15 years as I could only work in the cooler months in my garage in Florida. I started buying restoration parts from Jim Carter back in 1986 from a paper catalog before the internet caught on! LOL! Our Daughter rode in my truck in 1986 when she was only 4 years old. Fast forward 37 years to 2023 when I finally got my truck back on the road our 4 year old Grand Daughter rode in my truck with our Daughter to go get ice cream! My Grand Daughter was a huge inspiration to finishing my truck. I purchased my truck at an estate sale. The gentleman representing the sale said that the truck was his Uncle's who owned it since it was only 6 months old. I may be the second or third owner of my truck. I had tons of sheet metal work to do since Maine has salt on the roads. I have kept it a numbers matching truck with the original three on the tree and it's 216 C.I. Straight Six and it's 6 volt charging system. I did paint my truck a 2014 GMC Sonoma Red Jewel metallic paint color. I get a lot of compliments on the color and the white walls with moon hubcaps. I wouldn't have been able to restore my truck without the support and parts from Jim Carter Truck Parts.

This truck was sold new in Atlanta Georgia in 1950. The owner kept it until 1972 and sold it to his neighbor. The truck was used and the farm and for running errands. I purchased it in 1996. I kept in its original patina when in 2015 I decided it would get a frame off restoration. It was finished in 2021. It was returned to its 1950 condition with the exception of hardwood floor. Much thanks to the folks at Jim Carter Truck Parts for having the parts I needed and the guys at Mitch Dennis Body Shop in Buchanan, Georgia for there hard work and attention to detail.
