Tell us about your truck :

1963 Chevrolet Carryall Custom...triple rare! 1963 was a breakout year for Chevrolet across the board. Every model had something new and improved to offer. My beloved 1963 carryall custom was no exception. The optional custom line of Chevy trucks was brand new. It premiered a newly redesigned suspension, that featured a shock and coil on every wheel, and a powerhouse HIGH TORQUE 292 commercial duty engine, with more torque than the V8s of the time. Also new for 1963 was an alternator charging system, lightweight aluminum grill, full gauges, dual master cylinder, and many other advancements over previous years. But alas, the swept forward look created by a beautiful curved glass windshield would disappear the very next year, making the 63 a one year only model. Why is this truck triple rare? 1.) the sport ute craze was unheard of in 1963, so most carryalls were bought as work trucks.....without the custom package and all it's options........no one wanted to pay extra for the the custom package . 2.) of the customs that were bought, almost all of them were V8 automatics, and my truck still has the high torque 292 commercial duty six and granny gear four speed it was born with....with lots more torque than the V8 automatics.......all recently rebuilt. 3.) in addition to being the first year with a modern engine, components and suspension, it was to be the ONLY modern component truck with a curved windshield ... A one year only model. Also, this makes it a first AND last year truck, which adds value. ....Any other trucks like this one that are on the market today, you will notice that the original engine and transmission are LONG GONE,....... along with any future value. The values on these trucks have skyrocketed over the last few years, since most have rusted away, and with the advent of the truck craze. ALL components are recently rebuilt....the engine is now factory fresh.... Features.... "Woody" theme in interior....as it would have been done in the sixties...or seventies.... Vintage Stylized aluminum roof rack Numbers matching high torque 292 six... bored and blueprinted to 302 c.i. New Oversize Pistons New main bearings New valves and hardened valve seats...ready to burn unleaded! Detailed engine bay Factory Aluminum grill Stainless steel moulding under windows...denotes factory custom package New steering box... original unit retained New hinge pins, weatherstripping, and window components in drivers door New door sills New gas tank....kept original tank New motor mounts New exhaust system...custom made New battery New cables New hoses....factory correct New aluminum radiator…kept Harrison style original. Appx. 1000 miles on brakes and front end rebuild. Dual master cylinder Vintage fog lights Factory Oversize(11 inch) clutch and flywheel Factory Oversize brakes Swivel custom seats...very comfortable!..Will even swivel 180 degrees to face bed! Foam under bed carpet makes camping easy and comfortable Rear seating folds out to form

Original paint. Some bare spots, but I am not painting. Rebuilt 228, brakes. New radiator, clutch, etc. When I got it there was a dealer installed Arvin heater. I am replacing with a GM branded heater from Jim Carter. Also replacing rubber floor mats, all seals around windows and door, seat cover, door panels, headliner, etc. The interior will look original, but tidy. No radio, no cigarette lighter, no arm rests. I like it like that. Additionally adding period pair of tail lights, and adding turn signals. My only real concession to modernity are the trio of lap belts.
