We market the ultimate in the one year only 1940 Chevrolet tailgates. It has the correct large horizontal roll and two ears at the top for the chains. The stamped script letters are just right. 49" Wide. Made in USA!NOTE: If you are lucky and have an original 1940 tailgate, the lower hinge hole is 1 1/2" not the later 1 1/4". These tailgates are for the two large original hinges. Sorry, no original 1940 hinges are not being produced and you must have them for this gate. Otherwise, tailgate SM2071 will be a good replacement. Licensed by GM-General Motors.
